With one days remaining until hit drama Sherlock returns to BBC1, fans have flooded the internet with theories about how he managed to fake his own death at the end of the last series。
Although the camera angles made it seem Holmes landed on the tarmac road, the fact the moment of impact was not shown on camera has led many to believe he actually landed in a rubbish truck。
Others have suggested he didn’t fall at all, instead dropping the body of his arch enemy Moriarty from the rooftop。
Writing on Twitter, one viewer pointed out Dr Watson was dazed, having collided with a cyclist at the moment his friend fell。
A third viewer suggested another popular theory, which is that Sherlock managed to stop his pulse by squeezing a rubber ball under his arm。
However, soon after the last episode the show’s creator Steven Moffatt issued a warning for all amateur sleuths. Moffat claims his version of Sherlock’s fake death was much better than that of Arthur Conan Doyle。
